 Numatic News & Information for September 2013

Been on Break? Welcome Back!
Join Numatic As We Gear Up for Fall!

Dear Steve,
Oh, how we love summer sunshine and days at the beach. But you know what else gets our motors running? Fall! It's a time of excitement and fresh starts, as the kids get back to school, our favorite football teams take the field (Go Robots!) and we see fresh new opportunities to help our customers' businesses utilize the latest technology to run more efficiently.
Fall 2013 will be no exception, and we've got a lot of talk about. First, make sure you take advantage of the invitation below to join us at the Design 2 Part Trade Show, scheduled for Oct. 9 and 10 in Pasadena.
Then, make sure you check out our product of the month, the innovative UNO Power Supply from Phoenix Contact.

And, please read up on some tax changes -- at the state and federal levels -- that just might help your bottom line.
Last but not least, mark your calendar for Oct. 23-Nov. 1, when Numatic Engineering will once again bring you a Southland visit from Mitsubishi's exciting Solutions In Motion Mobile Showroom. Watch your email for additional details in the coming weeks!

Happy fall, everyone. We're looking forward to an exciting season!

Manufacturing Issues in the News
Tax Relief Measures for Manufacturers
At Numatic Engineering we are always on the lookout for news that affects our customers, and a couple of recent developments promise some GOOD news!
On the state level, Gov. Jerry Brown recently signed legislation to provide tax relief for businesses. The legislation (Assembly Bill 93 and Senate Bill 90) received bipartisan support in the Legislature, and establishes the Governor's Economic Development Initiative. The goal is to improve the state's business climate by taking steps including the following:
* Sales Tax Exemption: A statewide sales tax exemption on manufacturing equipment or research and development equipment purchases for biotech and manufacturing companies;
* Hiring Credits: Hiring credits for businesses in areas with the highest unemployment rate and poverty; and
* Investment Incentives: The opportunity for California businesses to compete for available tax credits based on the number of jobs to be created and retained, wages paid in those jobs and other factors.
Governor's initiative: Additional Information
On the federal level, new rules are being proposed that would provide enhanced tax relief to manufacturers and food processors. Under the new rules proposed by the Treasury Department, businesses that seek to invest in innovation - for example, by researching and developing new methods of production - will be able to take a greater deduction for the expenses associated with such research and development.
For more details on the proposal and how it may benefit your business, see this news article.
